Vivre à Lorraine

Bravo Jonathan. You took the words out of my mouth. When I first learned about this project, the first question that popped into my mind was, "Why did the elected members who are supposed to represent the citizens of Lorraine allow and promote this project?".

It was such a waste of time and energy for those of us who attended Groupe Maurice's project presentation. It also showed a lack of respect for the citizens who endured sitting through a hard core selling session that included choice of kitchen counters, etc. The real question should be, "Do the citizens wish to allow buildings more than 2 stories high at Place Lorraine? Can we allow cutting down precious mature pine trees that frame and flank the east side of Place Lorraine?"

I do not need to point out that the entry point of Upper Lorraine from Highway 640 (west side of Place Lorraine) is ruined forever by implanting a building too close to boul. de Gaulle. How could they approve the horrible building, dubbed "Aquarium" next to Maison Garth? This is another proof of the present team of elected officials' lack of judgement and understanding of many of Lorraine's residents.  

Can we allow this present group of elected officials continue on? Some of them have been at their positions too long and have forgotten their first mandate, which is to safeguard what is most precious to the citizens of Lorraine, nature and aesthetics. These are the reasons why many move here in the first place and the reason why they are staying.  Do I need to remind our elected officials that the residents in Lorraine work very hard to pay higher taxes? We pay our city elected officials a lot more in comparison to elected officials from other cities of similar configuration." We deserve and expect more.
