لمنع كل قانون يمس من حرية انتخاب الهياكل الممثلة للجامعيين

  علمنا ببالغ الحيرة والاستغراب أنه تم اقتراح من قبل سبعة وعشرون عضواً في البرلمان مشروع قانون لإلغاء عملية انتخاب رؤساء الجامعات واستبدالها بعملية تعيين من قبل وزارة الإشراف. نعتبر هذا المقترح اعتداءً خطيراً على الحريات الأكاديمية واستقلالية الجامعة التونسية. نعبر عن استنكارنا الشديد ورفضنا القاطع لهذا المشروع. كما يذكر الجامعيون أن أي إصلاح يتعلق بالجامعات التونسية يتطلب التشاور المسبق مع الأكاديميين وهيئاتهم المنتخبة

Empêcher l'atteinte aux lois qui régissent le renouvellement des structures universitaires

Nous avons appris avec grande stupéfaction que des parlementaires au nombre de 27 ont proposé un texte de loi qui tient à en finir avec le processus d'élection des présidents d'universités et vise à le remplacer par un mécanisme de désignation par le ministère de tutelle. Nous considérons que ce projet constitue une atteinte grave aux libertés académiques et porte atteinte au principe d’autonomie de l’Université tunisienne. Il est également impératif que toute réforme touchant à l’université tunisienne fasse l’objet d’une consultation préalable des universitaires, à travers les structures qui les représentent."

We learned with great concern and surprise that members of parliament have proposed a bill to abolish the process of electing rectors and replace it with appointment orders by the Ministry of Higher Education. We consider this proposal a serious violation of academic freedoms and the independence of Tunisian universities. We, all university teachers, express our strong condemnation and categorical rejection of this project and remind that any reform concerning Tunisian universities requires prior consultation with academics and their elected bodies.
